From 1979, through the present, she has held increasing responsible positions in Medical Model Day Care, entitlements and audit positions. Major employers include Amsterdam Nursing Home, Director of Amsterdam Adult Day Care Program (Medical), Wartburg Nursing Home, Directed 3 Adult Day Care Program sites (Medical), for Beth Abraham , Adult Day Medical Program, Director for the Bay Ridge Center for Older Adults Program (Social), Nursing Recruiter for Nursing Homes, Community Outreach Consultant for major long term care companies, such as Centerlight Inc. and Elderserve Health Inc.

In 2004, Ilene founded Elder Care Resources Incorporated and serves as President to date. The goal of Elder Care Resources is to service the community and individual clients in meeting all their health care needs, personal decisions, case management, pool trusts, Medicaid, Medicare, food stamps and transportation), complete all necessary forms, applications as required by insurers, welfare funds and government agencies and attend fair hearings. In 2008, she was recruited and served part-time on the Congressional Staff of the Honorable Michael McMahon as his primary adviser on health care, senior and entitlement issues. Also, constituent work resolving complicated cases in elder care related areas. Served through January 2011.
